History of the Firm

Established January 1999, Rick Penza Architect, Incorporated currently is Richard F. Penza Jr. R.A. (Rick), a licensed Florida Architect and Karen Cruz, office manager, with an office in Tampa, Florida.  We are dedicated to providing quality architectural design, construction documents, bidding review, value engineering and construction administration.  When required we have a sufficient list of intern architects and CAD operators we have worked with and know our system to provide additional support to our firm under Rick's personal supervision.

Rick has over 27 years experience working on many diverse projects from design through construction administration.  Rick formerly worked at a local prestegious architectural firm from 1983-1999 where, in 1995 he became an Associate to the firm.  In 1999 he decided to create his own architectural firm.  Rick’s knowledge of historical architecture as well as his pursuit for a "new position in architecture" and the importance of designing within context provides skills and design capabilities that range from historical designs to contemporary designs.  Such notable RPA projects include the Burr Residence, Fort Brooke Memorial, Bryan Glazer’s Residence, Robby and Allison Adams' Residence, and the Associated Builders and Contractors Gulf Coast Chapter headquarters.  Rick’s ability to bring his clients’ dreams to a reality without compromising architectural integrity earned him the 2002 Eduardo Garcia Award for design excellence of a young architect.

Karen Cruz, an employee since the company’s inception, serves all functions in the administration department.  Karen has over 18 years of experience as office manager, financial manager, and marketing coordinator in the field of architecture.  Karen also serves as administrative assistant, manages our billing and accounts receivable department, and maintains other critical financial records for Rick Penza Architect, Inc.
